Joey Pea-Pot With The Monkey Face (Lexington) Poem by Seairra Kyger

Joey Pea-Pot With The Monkey Face (Lexington)

He impressed her with a song
It was a rather catchy tune
He held her in his arms
But only for a moment of two
Then he broke his promise

She whispered to him at dinner
About 'the ideal of being in love'
As the meal went on he just got thinner
Man that boy's as flighty as a dove
And so he flew away from her

Lexington
It's time to go home
Take me back to
Lexington
I'm sick of the lies
This time I'm staying
Oh Lexington
I'll never leave again

Screaming
A lonely and pleading phantasm
We only get what we see
But we're gazing so blindly
Elaborate delusions
We're watching segregating illusions
Between the things that we see
The things that we hear
No it won't make them disappear

'You won't be leaving my arms
Ever
I promise you that'
I can't see up in space
My heart is out of place
You lied to me
Joey Pea-Pot with the monkey face

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is actually my reply to a Chiodo's song named Lexington (Joey Pea-Pot With The Monkey Face) . Its a romance song and I wanted to write what happened after if Joey wasn't actually what he seemed and leaves. So the girl is feeling lied to and she doesn't want to trust anyone again. It was inspired by a part in the middle of the song where he was talking about the illisuions made by people and what they say, so I thought I'd twist that into the illiusion on fake love
