Jesus Christ Poem by Christopher Cariad

Jesus Christ

Rating: 5.0

There I was on the street corner
holding a sign that said, Jesus loves you.
When a little kid walked up and asked
why I was sitting there,
Asked me how I could hold up a sign like that
When clearly love was not in my life.
I told him I once was a preacher
of a congregation.
That I stood in front of thousands of people
and told them that Jesus loves them,
That one day Jesus told me to preach a new message,
A message he said many wouldn't understand.
I stood in front of my congregation,
Told them all my sins,
Showed them I was human
Just like them,
That I was nothing special,
Nothing glorified.
Disgust appeared on their faces.

God told me this would happen:
He had seen my future
In front of the entire congregation.
I held out a stone:
Inscribed was a verse,
John 8: 7,
"He who is without sin, cast the first stone."

Oh the irony of it
When they picked up the stone.
For every time I repeated my message,
More and more stones would be thrown.

My message
was talked about in it's chapel.
It was seen as blasphemous.
Jesus told me this would happen.
So today I tell you
That Jesus is love.

Nothing you do, nothing you are, and nothing you've done matters.
As long as you have his love.
You'll be spit on and harassed
by christians who call themselves holy.
You'll be thrown into the pit of wolves and Lions,
but don't fret.
Jesus is there;
He will never cast the stone.
