Japanese Death Poem Poem by Nicholas Peter

Japanese Death Poem

White kimono,
flowing outwards like,
purifying light-

I sit with my knife,
cold as a glacier.

Death, death, death,
Noble seppuku,
no heaven shall await-

I sit with my honor,
falling away like a cherry blossom.

Falling away,
I have lost it in the end,
gone away like the ghosts-

I am a lost lion,
fighting in death.

Ghost-songs,
Hell in a hand basket,
I have gained abyss-

Blood on my hands,
I wish to return.
