January In The Moyne Shire Poem by Francis Duggan

January In The Moyne Shire

A weather forecast high for the day of a pleasant twenty degrees
And brown butterflies flitting around the sunlit bushes and trees
The sweet scent of hay blowing in the freshening breeze
And in the Summer air the buzzing of bush flies and bees
It is nice Summer weather in the Moyne Shire today
In the mostly sunny blue sky just a few clouds of gray
Yesterday warm and humid a high of thirty three
In south west Victoria the weather can change quickly in January
The drop in the weather temperature is not a bad thing
In fact for many people physical relief it does bring
With the sun on their dark wings in the evening sky
Above the brown paddocks the welcome swallows fly
A freshening breeze blowing from the ocean shore
On this beautiful evening who could ask for more.
