It Wouldn'T Mean Poem by Alejandro Torres

It Wouldn'T Mean

Darling
If you never uttered
Another word to me
I’d understand
But it wouldn’t mean
That I’m not sorry
For every chance that I missed
To tell you the simple things
You should hear
Like how captured
You’ve caught me
How your smile
Makes my heart melt
How your hugs
Make me feel alive
But it wouldn’t mean
That I’m not sorry
That I never told you
That every time a guy walks by
I get insecure
When I know there could be something
Out in the big wide world
Better for you than me
Than I could ever be
It doesn’t mean
That I’m not sorry
For every time I said something
That hurt you
When I let fear dictate my voice
When courage runs scarce
In me
It won’t mean
That I’m not sorry
That sometimes I look at you
And don’t believe in myself
Because I’m not as perfect
As I pretend to be
But it would never mean
That I’m not terribly sorry
For every chance I’ll miss
To mutter simple words
I hope you would want to hear
I’ll miss telling you
I love you
The most
