It Was You Poem by Michele Weston

It Was You

Rating: 5.0

I had no idea it was you,
All the years and all the other men,
You stood by me, your friendship strong,
Never once did you leave my side,
Through every heartbreak and tear.

I had no idea it was you,
Til the night you thought I was asleep,
When you said you loved me,
That's when I knew it was true,
Before then I had no idea it was you.

When Johnny left me in Memphis,
You drove 500 miles to pick me up,
When Michael left with my best friend,
You put my heart back together again,
All the signs were there but I didn't see.

I had no idea it was you,
Til the night you thought I was asleep,
When you said you loved me,
That's when I knew it was true,
Before then I had no idea it was you.

I had searched for years,
Never seeing what was there,
The love between me and you,
Now I know what I didn't know then,
I finally found the truth.

I had no idea it was you,
Til the night you thought I was asleep,
When you said you loved me,
That's when I knew it was true,
Before then I had no idea it was you.
