It is not that the sadness ever ends
The sadness will go on to the end
There is so much to be sad for
But life life itself demands something else
To live we must have some joy
We must have some hope
We must believe somehow
Even when we are no longer young
And so old we have too little time left
We must have some joy
The sadness will always be there
There are so many reasons for it
Especially in old age
But we need the joy
Even if it is forced
Even if there is only a little of it
We need the joy to go on.
