It Had Been A Miserable Day (Free Verse Sonnet) Poem by Gert Strydom

It Had Been A Miserable Day (Free Verse Sonnet)

(for Annelize)

It had been a miserable day full of drizzle
and you wanted to go to the beach at the Strand
to walk in that shivering-weather
and the Southeaster died down
but when the sun was setting on that beach
the rain did stop,
while the sun did draw a line up to the horizon
and you and I were there alone
like only two people in the entire universe
and you were far past pretty
but it was if God did walk along with us
where He keeps His hand over all seasons
and also over the winter-weather
but in my recollection I remember a wonderful kiss.
