Is The Pain Gone Poem by Emily Swinney

Is The Pain Gone

Is the pain gone?

Will it ever be?

Will it fade?

I think not.

I have felt this way, but not this panned out.

Not this many events that have hit so hard.

So close to home, yet farther away.

Gone, but not forgotten.

So much loss, so much gain.

So much cost, so much pain.

I hurt so much I’m just numb.

I remain smart, not dumb.

But the pain is recurring into nightmares.

Something much more than nightly flares.

When it’s all over,

Will I still be in one piece?

Will I remain intact?

Or will I be scattered and strewn all over the
Place?

I think the latter will be the reality.
The former will be what everyone wants to see,

But I won’t be able to give it to them.

They will break down,

But not as bad as me.
