Is Life Passing You By? Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Is Life Passing You By?

Do you feel life is passing by?
You feel you’re out of touch
You think it better if you’d die
The pressure’s all too much

Too oft it seems you fail to cope
Life’s burdens hard to bear
You feel the futures void of hope
For you there’s no-one there

Your friends of old are long since gone
Your family life’s a mess
It seems so hard you can’t go on
Beneath your daily stress

Persistent hardship daunts your mind
Worry on every side
Through deep concern you can’t unwind
But none can turn the tide

Sickness has paid too oft a call
Troubles are far from few
Problems are anything but small
With no relief in view

Through sleepless nights, days void of rest
Your nerves are ever taught
Palpitations fill your chest
Is death the last resort?

Numerous deaths have brought you tears
Lost love’s left you alone
The loneliness of many years
Has made your heart like stone

Yet though it seems there’s no way out
You’ll never win the fight
Believe in Christ be rid of doubt
And seek Salvation’s Light…
