Intoxicated Messages Poem by Eli MorenoDrew

Intoxicated Messages

There we were,
Smoking cigarettes like it was cool
And talking about our problems.

I’m glad you left me that day,
Or else this day wouldn’t
Be so sweet.

You were cold.
You shook the bench
As well as the world
When you said this time was
Perfect.

God knows how much I missed you.
He knew every time I said
‘God damn it I miss her! ’
That I meant it, except for taking his name
In vain.
You had your leather jacket
And your Marlboro Lights covering up
Your wings.
(But I couldn’t tell if they took you down or up)
