Instant Of Despair Poem by Jaime Montanez Salcedo

Instant Of Despair

Rating: 5.0

A lonely, shriveled leaf hung from a bough,
Barely trembling in the passage of a breeze,
Chilly, painfully piercing I do avow,
As the grief I am failing to appease,
Seeming wound the scythe of death did plow
In my cheerless heart with merciless ease;
And as it grew overwhelming, somehow
Despair managed my confused thought to seize.
I begged to God to end my misery,
And bitter tear did from my eye depart,
Yet all the same, ignored my agony,
Letting me see my unmerited part,
And accepting forgiveness, love's augury,
So it was like casting new light on my heart.
