Innocence Poem by Tarapada Mohapatra

Innocence

Innocence sleeps
on the dreaming eye lids
of a new born baby
so fresh so nascent
like dazzling diamonds
dancing on a golden platter

It is like truth
makes fluttering silence
when the birds return
to the darkness of their nests
when the Sun sets
beyond the horizon of twilight
the rays of hope incident
on the path I trail
and my innocence glitters.

I close my eyes
and go to a dreaming sleep.
