In The Early Shabbat Morning Walk Around The Block

IN THE EARLY SHABBAT MORNING WALK AROUND THE BLOCK

In the early Shabbat morning walk around the block
On streets Rabbi Meir to Ben Gamzu and then Dostai
A feast of green
Oaks, Jerusalem pines, cypress, date-palm, olive
Other trees whose names I will never know-

A simple neighborhood contains more treasures
Than my mind can possibly define and enumerate
So rich and beautiful –

How blessed to be able to walk here still
My eyes cannot contend with all the treasures given me as I happily go by them.
