In The Doorway Poem by David Blake

In The Doorway

In my tears there is a certain pain that only
you can explain. With dark eyes and
carless hair you pretended not to see my
sorrow each time you would leave.
Thoughtless words that passed between
us late at night my heart torn, my dreams
left as tangled rubbish beneath your feet,
served only to remind you of the power you
had over my heart. Games played by fools
a dance that never seemed to end and at
last I am the one left with the broken heart.
Moving me with the hope that you again
might someday care, I am eternally lost in
the lie of a love that can never be.
