Impossibilities Poem by Erika Wingo

Impossibilities

Rating: 4.5

I cannot keep you,
You are not mine to keep
As much as I would like to believe
That I can

I do not have you,
You were never mine to have
Even though
My dreams tell me that it is so

I cannot make you feel for me
The deep stirrings of love
That I feel for you
While my pride holds my heart
Safely tucked away
Within the delicate folds
Of my denial.
