Imaginary Realization Poem by Giuliana Carder

Imaginary Realization

'I have someone now, '
she said,
'He touches me, and kisses me,
And does all the things you once did.'

'What a pity, '
said he,
'That I can do those things no more.'

'You gave up that right, '
she whispered,
'When you broke my heart.'

'I know, '
he smiled grimly,
'And I wish it were not so.:

'I don't need you any more, '
she stated.

'No. You never did.'

'You're wrong.'

'No.'
He put a hand on her cheek.
'You wanted me, yes.
You loved me, yes.
But you never needed me.'

She blinked away tears from her eyes.
'Thank you, '
she said.
