Fantasy Poem by Giuliana Carder

Fantasy

I am not in the business of
Saying true things.
I am in the business of
Glass slippers
Ruby rings
And nights you'll never forget.

So pour the champagne
I've never tasted
And the silk I've never worn
Let us dance with lovers we've never had
In ballrooms we'll never see.

Come to a secret place,
Where your dreams are
For the taking
And sunshine laughs on a
Pristine crystal shore
I've never walked before,
But let me describe it to you.

Here, in the ink and the loneliness
Let me create a world
More real than your name,
More beautiful than the stars,
More addictive than the drugs he'll use to forget me.

Welcome to the land of fiction,
Of beautiful lies.
Here, your heart beats faster,
The colors taste brighter,
And you can be anyone
I write you to be.

So come,
Escape with me.
Let us experience
All that we never will and more
In a place too brilliant
A place to green
Too blue
Too golden-brown.

A place of dreams and writing.
A place I've always wanted to be.
