If You Give Someone A Fish Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

If You Give Someone A Fish

Rating: 5.0

If you give someone a fish
You feed him for a meal
If you teach someone to fish
You feed him for a life
Making something out of nothing
Something being the return of a life
Nothing being loss of hope
It's one thing not to know something
But know you don't know
The worst is to not know
You don't know

The biggest experience for me
Is seeing children grow
And develop in their own path
A lot of times it's channeling
Channeling other people's love, lives and words
Just the natural inspiration
And non-egocentric self
What you believe in?
What you stand for?
What you fight for?
What you achieve?

It's important to think
People around you
To be aware and to be humbled
By the problems of others
To be appreciate of the knowledge
It's good for all of us
To open eyes and look around
We do have among us
Many people who are living at
Or below the poverty line
This number is increasing daily

'If you give someone a fish, you feed him for a meal. If you teach someone to fish, you feed him for a life.' What a remarkable advice you have given in the first four lines. I agree with you fully in this respect.
