If There Were A Macdonald's On Mars Poem by Paula Glynn

If There Were A Macdonald's On Mars

If there were a MacDonald's on Mars
People would flock for their divine cheeseburgers
People would devour French fries and other tasty treats
People would find Mars all the more delicious
For that reason and for that food passion in every season
Having travelled to Mars for three months
In a small spaceship, their bravery incredible.

If there were a Trader Joe's on Mars
People on Mars would happily queue up
For their tempting pizzas and perfect lemonade
For their various forbidden chocolate treats
And vegetables that do top up filling meat
The Martian diet including needing oven heat
The food grown on new-life-Mars a relief.

If there were a bus service on Mars
People would travel all over the red planet
People would spend days with other Martians
Although these Martians all-too-human
The planet Mars exciting to wander and explore
Its history and legends impossible to ignore
There being no Martians and earth-bound at war.

If there were a hospital on Mars
People would rest and recover from injury
They would have cuts stitched and broken arms bandaged
They'd have life-saving heart operations
They'd suffer - and recover - from exhausting illnesses
From chest infections to virus-related sickness
And even maternity care for Martian mums

If there were dental practitioners on Mars
People would have perfect straight white teeth
Patients would have painless tooth extractions
Patients would have white and permanent fillings
Patients would have a brace fitted to straighten their teeth
Patients would brush their teeth twice every Martian day
Knowing modern dental practices prevalent without delay

If there were Tesco stores on Mars
And other supermarkets on Mars
We'd say we are normal to reach the stars
The red planet a beautiful extra planet we call Mars
And where musicians play their melodic guitars
Music played in Tesco, the creative Martian people superstars
And daily Martian life similar to earth with attraction in bars.

If there were plants and flowers on Mars
There'd be gardening on the red planet
There'd be soil and the perfume of flowers
There'd be apple trees and cherry trees
There'd be cactuses and sunflowers
Green grass and daisies that pop up
Marigolds and tulips, roses and lilies.

If there were dogs and cats on Mars
She'd bring her beautiful pure white cat
He'd bring his beloved black Alsatian
People animal lovers just as on earth
Life on this Martian planet to be of worth
For Mars brings a new race of people
Who will always be human and have hope for earth.
