If Only He Knew Poem by Darren Huston

If Only He Knew

Rating: 5.0

You were never even there...

The First time I saw you I knew it was true,
I'll love you forever & that I'll do.
I look at you and everything around me Fades;
I could only hear your voice driving me insane.

You reach down to hold my hand, I look in your eyes,
they were filled with tears
But you smiled knowing that I'd reach back out to you.
I can't hear anything around me
except the words you whispered in my ear.

"I love you & I promise you from this day we will never be apart."
All I can remember was I gave my best smile,
Then reached out to you and gave my hand to you... from my heart.

I look at you, and see the excitement in your eyes
Just because I reached back out to you.
We hold hands walking down the street with the lights in our eyes.

You glance at me and say, "I love you, "
I reply, "I love you too".
We walk into the horizon knowing this is all wrong.
We let nothing in our way until the time comes to say, "goodbye".

I wait till morning to see you again,
I walk by your house- seeing no one there. Then I realized...

You were never even there.
