If when I am long gone and past
When I am bones and dust at last
If but just one can look and say
I see the demons he fought each day
I understand the battles he waged
The ceaseless fight for life engaged
I know he failed but he gave it all
I give him respect though he did fall
If just one can look back and know
Then failure will not be all I did sow
