If I Could Tell Myself Poem by Kay Tee

If I Could Tell Myself

I wish we could talk, somewhere quiet, where we'd walk
And I'd tell you of all that I've learned
About your worries and wonders of all their eyes that could wander
And reflect all the pain that you've turned
Into fabricated smiles and a pile, among piles
Of those bottles that would promise a cure.
That the love and the battles could collide and dismantle
Your insides until you're no more.

I wish I could tell you; I would shout and I'd yell to you
And I'd teach you that doubts cannot sell
And I'd tell you that friends, when "the means meets the ends"
Will not all stay to wish you farewell
I would stay by your side when you're up late at night and you ask Him
Could You show me a sign?
I would tell you one day, when your hair turns to gray
That these thoughts would not crawl in your mind.

I would make sure you'd know that through the highs and the lows
You'd stand protected in a cloak weaved of faith
That it's patches and stitches would be knead by the wishes
Of your loved one's keeping you safe

If you take a moment to be honest with yourself then I promise
That you have the path paved to all that you crave
If you disregard the voices that coerced reckless choices
Then the time you have lost would be made
