If God Hides His Face Poem by Michael P. Johnson

If God Hides His Face

If God from you, would hide His Face
You'll need to bend your knee
Pray forgiveness, seek Love's Grace
From sin's shame, to be free

With your life, your future in view
Your past, clear in sight
God knows why He'll be testing you
Walking within the Light

Through trials, God tests in light in gloom
Mornings, through night each day
How oft you fail, swift to resume
Living Salvations Way

At birth, one's heart is hard as stone
Selfish, grasping desire
While God's full love, perfect alone
Living consuming fire

So would it be wise to linger?
Prudent selfish to live
Waiting God's chastening finger
What punishment He'd give

Too oft are Christian's beginning
Anxious fighting strife
Unwilling failing foul sinning
Along the Way to Life

Abrupt! is not Heaven saving
Not The Lord's Way to go
Not fighting, desperate craving
But easy, calmly, slow

Creator, is God after all
Knows the end, ere the start
Would grace, true love, allow to fall
Those within His own heart.....
