If God Is True Poem by Michael P. Johnson

If God Is True

What does one do, afraid to die?
Lie endless in the grave
Not knowing if a God’s on high
Man’s precious soul to save

Not knowing, if one, Jesus Christ
Is man; yet God’s own Son
His loving Father sacrificed
That life, for man be won

If God and Christ His Son is real
If life above is true
Why won’t He, Himself reveal?
To such as me and you

I’ve heard when Christians will please us
They boast of victory
True life, is only through Jesus’
Sufferings on a tree

They say all sickness He’ll cure
That death will be no more
But how can one now, be sure?
We’ll enter Heaven’s door

If life today we can receive
If God can hear man’s prayer
If I now pray and will believe
Would faith be mine to share?

Whilst I’m making all these queries
I’m steeped in deepest thought
Awakening many theories
What could be God’s report?

Perhaps the bible will tell me
If through Jesus now I pray
The power of God could free me
Right here, right now, today! .....
