Idealistic Future Poem by ellery lim

Idealistic Future

I laugh when someone thinks of the future.
At times I ask, is there a future?
For I see none.
In this world.
For what we have done.
Has damaged her.
Our likes and our greed.
These futile lives we lead
Will bring us to failure.
And our desire
Will lose to this nature
And destroy our future
But blame it not on others
For yours is a part
Don’t fire your brothers
For deep down in your heart
You know you have killed
The empire you built
Has brought shame to us all
Brought us to a fall
And our moving tin sins
Should be garbage in bins
So does our freezer.
Worse than a breezer.
Leading to our future in ruins
But do we have a future?
We lose out to nature.
But our actions prove otherwise.
But when this entire world dies.
Will we still laugh, grieve or sigh.
For this is the world man sculpted.
Broken and forsaken.
The maker and the taker.
Will cease to exist.
