I Write Because... Poem by Eloida Capuno

there is a voice within
longing to be heard
i need a vent for all that
my heart yearns
like a bird trapped in its cage
wanting to soar and flap its wings

i write in the hope that those who dare
may listen to what i have to say
and they are all free to judge
i will take it good or bad

it matters not if i dont rhyme
as well as those whose words do shine
just let me write my thoughts in here
and let me breath freedom's air
