I Wish Everyday Could Be Like Christmas

I wish everyday could be like Christmas
When everything to work for has been done
All monies have been earned
Everything to spend it on has been bought

What’s left is to dress well, frolic, dance and relax
Enjoy the beauty of sight, eat and eat and eat ….
Open boxes and boxes of presents

I wish everyday could be like Christmas
When the dawn of the day is usually uncannily serene
Perturbed only by the epiphany
And the jolly mood of illigimate kids, orphaned and otherwise

I wish everyday could be like Christmas
When the day is spiced with fresh air and perfumed with dried Pentecostal
Petals
The scapegoat of the cause of inclemency has become responsible for the beauty of the day
The rain, the cold to snow proportions or the heat to equator proportions
Is welcomed with a bright smile because the gods are smiling on the occasion

I wish everyday could be like Christmas
When we only have to know how special the day is
For the gates to be flung wide open and let in an avalanche of joy
The rain of gifts
The flash of colourful lights
The rise of dust after the frolicking and dancing
The burst of voice, ululating and singing
The flow of sweet and bitter beverage
The abundance of an assortment of food
Eating and drinking over the limits of health
