I Went For Looks Poem by Frank Adie

I Went For Looks

I was faced with two options,
And must choose one;
I must choose carefully,
My choice determines my fate.

Meekness and submissiveness beckoned to me,
And I said No!
Homeliness and warm-heartedness courted me,
Still I said No!

Then I went for looks, I chose beauty;
That transitory and superficial ego tripper;
I chose wrongly, I chose beauty against content;
Now I am stock with it, I must live with it.

With the future hidden in the belly of time,
At the crossroads, life is just a gamble;
Our choices, may result in unexpected outcomes;
The meal we cook in the day, we must eat at night.
