I Saw Some Bright Blue Stars The Other Night (Sonnet) Poem by Gert Strydom

I Saw Some Bright Blue Stars The Other Night (Sonnet)

they were twinkling as your eyes,
they had a secret kind of fragile light
and it was as if all of our goodbyes,

the loneliness and pain that they brought
was just the expression of our love,
a thing that through life we did sought
and then I knew that nothing can remove

the feelings, bliss and joy that we had found
that with the essence of a supreme will
we were with our relationship on solid ground
and even when the leaving seems ill

we still have got to do as we must
and an essential part of love is trust.
