I Pray This For My Sons, Always Poem by Jessmyn Bergemann

I Pray This For My Sons, Always

Rating: 5.0

I want love and peace
I want happiness and joy
I want the world to be a better place
Because one day my sons will have a little girl or boy.

I want snow and a crisp breeze
I want unconditional things
I want to dance with my sons around the tree
Because then they will always have that memory.

I want to love harder
I want to be loved more
I want to teach my sons that life is worth living
Because in the end that is what we are all fighting for.

I want all war to cease
I want to hug my grandmother yet
I want my mother to hug my children often
Because when she is gone I don’t want them to regret.

I want to be the mountains
I want to be the raging sea
I want life to encompass all I am and have
Because my sons deserve to be so much more then me.

I want to not imagine
I want to live and to never die
I want a peaceful serene moment in time
Because I need to remember their young childs’ eyes.

I want love for everyone
I want a candle to burn bright
I want to be a woman of substance
Because my sons need to be men that teach right.

I want my family and friends
I want my enemies and foes
I want all of them to know I do not hate
Because in my children daily that love grows.

I want to be an example
I want to have meant the world
I want to have know unconditional love
Because in the end my soul print will be uncurled.

I pray this for my sons
And not for myself
