I Miss My Friend Poem by Shiloh Thompson

I Miss My Friend

Rating: 5.0

*Author's Note*
I think I'm losing my best friend because we are both moving on into different relationships. Its a sad thing to see us drifting apart after we went though so much together. He is one of my greatest inspirations, and I hate to lose someone who was so wonderful to me. But I don't know how to say it to him.

A different kind of heartbreak,
Not one from a lost love,
But that of a missing friend.

No more are the days together,
Laughing at absurd jokes,
Ones only we understand.

Bear hugs are no more,
Just dismissive actions,
And condescending smiles.

Conversation dying down,
Only awkward pauses,
Where words used to flow.

Questions linger in the air,
Of where my friend went,
And when he will return.

I mourn what is left of us,
The inseparable renegades,
Now being laid to eternal rest.

Walking past our small place,
I lay an imaginary rose there,
As I silently cry for my friend.

We have become lost, dear,
Separation a cruel feeling,
For we are fading away…
