A Prayer In A Moment Of Weakness Poem by Shiloh Thompson

A Prayer In A Moment Of Weakness

Rating: 4.8

My heart says one thing,
But my head says another
Who would think something
Like this would happen again?
I do still love him deep inside,
But my head says not to go there.
What would you do if you faced this?
Run and hide inside yourself?
Or would you embrace the inevitable?
I am weak when it comes to him.
Yet for myself I must be strong.
I must stand up and say this is not right.
I must believe enough in myself,
That I will not go down that lonely road.
I must spread my wings and fly away.
I must get away from this path,
This path of hate and loneliness.
I am strong, I will fight.
I will rise against this need I have,
The passionate feelings for him.
The lies, the death of my soul.
I must remember!
I must get away from this!
I cannot be dependent on him again!
Never again!
God give me strength of will,
Grant me strength of soul,
Bestow upon me Your love,
So that I will not return to the dark.
Please, I pray, let me stand up for myself.
Let me grow into myself, away from him.
Away from the abuse of my heart.
Protect me in Your arms,
And I will be safe forever.
Thank you, oh Lord, for listening.
Lift me unto Your arms,
And I will be home with You.
