I May Not Remember Your Name Poem by Grace NeCamp

I May Not Remember Your Name

I may not remember your name,
but I will always remember your face.
The way it would express joy,
anger,
confusion,
a 'light bulb' moment of realizaton.
The things that only I could see and you could only feel.

I remember your dreams.
What was important to you in that moment.
The sparkle in your eye when you laughed.
I remember what made you tick
And what hurt you.

I hope you have held onto those dreams.
I hope you know I've held onto them too.
I hope you never let them go,
and make them into something,
make yourself into the someone you have always wanted to be.
In my mind, I am able to protect you from the world and the troubles you may face,
the troubles you are bound to face regardless of anything I could have said,
or done.

Although we have had to say goodbye,
these moments still live in my mind like a movie.
I wonder,
do these moments still live with you?
I may not remember your name,
but I will always remember you.
