I'M Proud Poem by Keli Mims

I'M Proud

I go for the dive,
That split second I feel so alive.
But pain comes over me,
And it hurts to breathe.
I get up I can't lay there,
Overcome by pain I don't fear.
I see my father's smiling face,
But that apparition is a dreamer's waste.
Though blurry eyed I play,
Tears are fast on thier way.
My dad sits in the crowd,
He says something but it's to loud.
I want to run, run to his arms,
A father's love keeps me from harm.
As I close my eyes to blink,
For that one second to think.
I search the crowd once more,
My heart felt ripped and tore.
My father left the crowd,
His voice I hear says 'I'm proud'.
