I'M Finally A Man Poem by Matthew Jenkins

I'M Finally A Man

Rating: 5.0

People say I'm not the same,
Maybe that's true,
Maybe it's the way I walk
After I've been crippled by the pain.
Maybe it's the way I talk
After your face brings a knot in my throat.
Maybe it's the way I act
When words just really can't say enough.
Maybe it's the way I think
When all the thoughts lead back to you.
Or maybe it's the way I love
After many trials I finally know how
Or maybe it's the way I cry
Because after you it is finally for real
Or maybe it's the way I laugh
Because laughter brings back our memories
Or maybe it's the way I sleep
Dreaming dreams filled with your scent
Even maybe the way I fight
Every battle stronger than the last
Even maybe the way I hold on
To the feelings that passed so long ago
Even maybe the things I say
Knowing none can bring you back
The thing I do know,
If people think I'm different
It's because of your love I once had,
Has finally made me into a man.
