Matthew Jenkins Poems

I remember the moon staring back at us
I remember the stars holding our gaze
I remember the cool air that night
I remember warming you and holding you tight
...

My best friend isn't here right now, and no she isn't dead.
It's because we haven't spoken, no not one word has been said.
My best friend isn't here right now, and it's all because of me.
I set her aside for another girl, we just could not be.
...

If we filmed all our lives,
Would people watch us as we cry,
Would people listen to our lies,
Would people sorrow as we die?
...

People say I'm not the same,
Maybe that's true,
Maybe it's the way I walk
After I've been crippled by the pain.
...

I sit, I stare, I cry, I wait,
To finally show my love has grown so great.
To be by your side through thick and thin,
Would you forgive me for all my sins?
...

One spring night,
Years ago
He spoke to someone,
He didn't really know
...

As I close my eyes, and thoughts drift,
A shadowy figure blurs its way through,
Murkiness turns to clearness, through the light,
I can see your eyes,
...

Dreaming nightmares so sweet
It is the only way
I have been through these feelings before
But never so great
...

The sun sets on another day
I watch it as it goes beyond the horizon
From my claustrophobic hotel room
I admire the colors in the sky
...

The Best Poem Of Matthew Jenkins

Moonlit Day

I remember the moon staring back at us
I remember the stars holding our gaze
I remember the cool air that night
I remember warming you and holding you tight
I remember how it felt to finally be loved
I remember how I felt and what I couldn't stop
I remember the way you looked being lit by the night
I remember how fiery my passion became right then
I remember all the things that were
I remember all the things that couldn't have been
I remember all of this but it belongs to time's past
I remember everything and the feelings that wouldn't last
I remember most of all what I wanted to say
But it remains to another time
A time of a moonlit day
