I'Ll Miss You Poem by Aanuoluwa Adebanjo

I'Ll Miss You

We've spent just a few times together
Yet it feels like forever
Under the sunny sky
And in the heavy rain
We've gone looking for each other
And even when we can't see each other
We pick a phone and give a call
And even when people say a lot of things about us
We simply ignore
We give each other names
That we find pleasant to the ears
And when i say, 'vanilla'
I can remember how sweet it is
Which can make me want to have more
And when i hear, 'strawberry'
I remember how tasty it is
Which makes it distinct from other fruits
When we spend the whole day talking
Laughing at things only us see and feel
And darkness eventually engulfs our path
Telling us it's time to say, 'goodbye'
We find it so hard to say
We'd rather say, 'goodnight, see you tomorrow'
But a day will come
When we'll have to say goodbye
Without the assurance of seeing each other 'tomorrow'
When we would have to choose our own path
When fate which brought us together will separate us
And we'll walk on a separate lane
And we'll be left with nothing but a candle of hope
Which we'll try to keep lit in our hearts
And when that day eventually comes
I know i'll miss you
