I Do Not Wish To Be Poem by Rebekah Wooten

I Do Not Wish To Be

I do not wish to be
Your best
Nor
Your worst
To be the berry lipstick on your neck
Or
The spaces between coffee sips

I do not wish to be
Another pretty face to kiss
The provider of your bliss
Someone
You may one day-
Miss

I do not wish to be
The most pleasant
Nor
Aggressive
To be
Adored flamboyantly
Or
Ignored frequently

No I do not wish to be
Define by a moment
A tear in the eye
A tilt of the chin
A howling cry
Nor
A hungry grin

I simply wish to Be
As I am and
As I will be
Always shifting
Terrible to-
Beautiful
Then terribly beautiful
Bursting
Then empty
Restlessly content
