I Do Not Get It Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

I Do Not Get It

I do not get it

As an aviator,
I flew over the clouds,
Thousands of hours,
And never saw a river…

But now with this rain,
This mother of floods,
This cause of mudslides,
I rub my eyes to wake up!

Maybe I was wrong,
Maybe in the clouds
Or in the atmosphere
There are rivers…

I do not get it
As do not get racism
And do not get slavery
And do not get sexism,
Neither can see why
The gladiators had to kill
To live…

I do not get why
Age set for minor, for senior,
Who decides? Why? Where?

Why eugenic, forced Sterilization?
Who decided? Why? Where?
Freedom to abort, why yes or not?

What is happening in Texas?
What are the laws of mullahs?
Why colonizer and colonized?
Why being exempted from…?

Do you remember the Queen 999?
And the Residential school?
And Komagata Maru?
Neither do I get the rightness
Nor do I understand wrongness! ! !
