I Am The Love Of My Beloved Poem by Barbara Vanier

I Am The Love Of My Beloved

I am the love of my beloved
I cease to exist when her presence fades
Some may say the reliance is to great
Does a flower rely on the sun to much
When a tree begs for water is it criticized
Everyone knows what is needed
Why do they so easily forget the needs of love

My beloved calls out to me from a distant land
The wind carries her voice to me
I answer her voice and weep
I lay upon my bed and moan
Because she is far from me
But the wind has brought her close
I reach out and touch the wind and hold her hand

Does anyone remember love
Can you remember the beloved of your youth
How she captivated your mind
How all thoughts were of her
How you both played in the sun
How you both danced in the light of the moon
I am the love of my beloved
