I Am Not A Pencil! Poem by Kendra Renee

I Am Not A Pencil!

I am not a pencil
You can't just flip me over and expect me to forgive your mistakes
Man I remember when I used to yearn
For your hand to wrap across my body and
Your shaky but precise strokes
That made me squirt out ink
You know I never asked for you to choose me
But you took me and used
Me over and over
I know that's what I'm supposed to do
At least that's the way I'm presented
When I try one act of rebellion
Like maybe not leaking when you stroke me
What do you do? Beat me on the desk, your knee, even bite me
Until I give in and let you have your way
I am a pen sophisticated
And highly motivated
I still leak without whether you take off my top
Or push my button
You can't make a mistake with me
You can try and white me out
But it'll still leave an ugly mark
If you have the luxury of getting to be with me
You must hold me right
And put effort in every stroke you take
You're too used to pencils
Letting you do whatever
With them you can erase your mistakes
But with me you gotta do better
Cuz I am not a pencil
I am a Pen!
