I Am Coming Home Poem by Randy McClave

I Am Coming Home

I'm at the station waiting for the train
Then I'm off on the very next plane,
I'm so excited for my very next view
If only you truly knew.

I have climbed many mountains and hills
I have felt the heat and also the chills,
Walking tired and scared without much rest
But, first needing to finish my quest.

You are in my dreams almost every night
When I don't have to fight,
Then in the morning when I had to drill
You're the one who gave me the will.

I wrote you letters every single day
Every night to you I always did pray,
I kept your picture on a chain around my neck in a locket
I keep your ribbon in my front pocket.

It has been days, weeks, months and years
With thousands of promises and also tears,
Now finally the time and the heartache is up
Tomorrow, only coffee will be in my cup.

I'm been gone for such a long, long time
So very long was this climb,
Battles I had fought, the world I did roam
Now, I am finally coming home.
