Human Beacons Poem by Arno Le Roux

Human Beacons

Rocky windy road from birth to sleep
Roads and pointers on a course to keep
We help and touch and some we fight
Walk with those who share our plight
Have a few for comfort close to keep
People beaming light in blizzard sleet
As life place these beacons miles apart
Clear indicators where a new road start
Beacons keeping us away from harm
To us unknown this is fate's old charm
Show the way but not the skill we need
Left behind by ones with warmer greet
And others we pass as their road vear left
Some pass us again near mountains' cleft
Time then slowly ticked off at every turn
Right of way is lost when bridges burn
