Human Poem by Pippa Moss

Human

Do you try to be a hero, but you've not quite learnt to fly?
Do you wonder why you fail, when you've given your best try?
Perhaps we're often blinded, to our own heroic deeds
Bogged down at times by chores, and all life's wants and needs:

Did your children have the bits they'll need to see them through the day?
Would they have made it out the door if you hadn't shown the way?
Did you chat to an old lady who's normally quite alone?
Did someone disappoint you but you worked hard not to moan?
Remember that piece of litter? No longer dirtying the street
And that person who you boosted, with that complimentary tweet...

But if mini heroics, are you think, simply not enough
Definitely get yourself out there, do something you think tough
Train for an event that you never thought you'd do
Win a medal or volunteer, feel the pride you're due.

Of course those heroes in the news, we'll admire and stare
The awesome feats they've gone through, we may not quite compare
But those of us just human from our head right to our toes
Be sure we've made a mark today, and someone out there knows.
