How Sweet The Love Song Poem by Joyce Hemsley

How Sweet The Love Song

Yellow roses, crimson roses,
the Danube by Strauss...
when my answer was 'yes'
we danced round the house.

His happy eyes sparkled
the colour of jade,
when the radio played
a Viennese serenade.
So gently he held me,
my emotions ran free
with teardrops and blushes
for others to see...
my heart was enraptured,
it just had to be
in the late evening hours
when his song was for me.

Yellow roses, crimson roses,
roses from the South...
his answer was 'yes'
and we danced round the house.
