How Dare You Imprison God? Poem by Fiona Schwartzinoff

How Dare You Imprison God?

Rating: 1.0

How dare you imprison God?
He canot be held in your church.
He cannot be held within your stone walls
Nor your sermons or theological search.

How dare you imprison Him to human words
That flaunt upon a public stage
Or tuck Him away into your pocket for a time or need
When you are too weak to fight and rage?

See Him vast in the deep ocean of sky
And shimmering along the golden bank.
He whispers through the breeze of dusk and morn
And is seen where the day and night flank.

He is painted on the blush of a bride,
He is swimming within the eyes of a child.
He is seen in weaving of snowflakes white
And where the sun goes soft and mild.

He is seen in the bottomless well
We see when we look within ourselves;
That secret place no one speaks of
Where our loves and hates meld.

I forgot How dare you imprison, God. The idea is fantastic and very original, I don't thinkl this was ever thought of before? In any case, congratulations!

The Pantheistic Beauty of this poem is extraordinary. Yes, God cannot be imprisoned in a building, He is all around us and is in everything, if you are a believer. Gods light should shine inside all of us, in that secret well deep within us but there is so much unexplained evil in man, Yes, yes I know it was Eve's fault and all that but it's always easy to blame others for what you are doing wrong. In any case, beautiful ideas and beautifully written. S.
