Hourglass Poem by Natalia Lalgee

Hourglass

When we met, the sun and moon fell in love.
When we kissed, atoms collided at the speed of light.
You make up my stars, my days and nights.
Time would hate me if it only knew, just how long I want to be with you.
I try to catch myself, not knowing I would fall; but I fall anyway, secretly exclaiming my happiness.
My chest is caving in, and my breath has been taken away by thoughts of you and the life we don't share.
Only for now this shall last,
Soon life will end this farce and we will be together...
Growing grey on a Finnish summer day,
remembering how we painted our white picket fence and swayed like bamboo under a stone walled showerhead.
Remembering how you smelled my hair; thinking out loud you love me were just one of the sweet nothings I did not hear.
