Hot Rod Poem by Theodora (Theo) Onken

Hot Rod

Rating: 5.0

It was a golden vision at first
That caught my eyes
Just a custom built hot rod
Merely driving by...

A golden glitter of a '38' Ford
More brilliant than the light of day
Heading for the Assembly Of God church
That stole my heart clean away.

The driver - a high school student
Not more than 17 years old
But we were fated to meet
As sure as the cars metallic gold.

The car had a name -
Painted with much artistic flare
'The Northern Lights' - all aglimmer
Oh, how the people would simply stare.

It was more than just a car & driver
The two together magically glowed
It was the beginning for me - you see
Of the truest first love i would ever know.
