Hospitality Houses Poem by Akaya Yaway

Hospitality Houses

Rating: 5.0

And green beans that were eaten on Christmas Eve - or Thanksgiving
Who pays attention to holidays?
And mashed potatoes with gravy that was home-made or not,
depends on your mom,
or who can cook in your family
Turkey and ham on a reddish green, possibly orange table-cloth - autumnal wintery colors
Maybe you don't have a table cloth
Maybe you spilled your food on tables that were not yours
And then who came to save the day?
Was it the man with the napkin?
or maybe you got spanked - maybe dinner was over
Depends on you,
this is your memory not mine.

Drinking from glasses that were set aside for nights with glasses...
and orbs that were made of glass
Whose glasses did you see out of when you lost yours?
Was your vision blurred?
Or did you pass your eye exam?
I failed once - didn't understand the test,
and that's what I get
Kindergarten pictures in glasses
thanks for the tip - I wish I knew what it meant,

Cheering with a veering, cheering crowd.
Watching Cheers reran late,
too late for you to stay up
But I'm always up - don't need to call the doctor,
It's not four hours,
I'll be better by then - I can cycle again
If you get the metaphor I'm in,
not as blatant as the commercials you think you know,
I should get my own commercial - with a bouncy soft blob,
Call me the master-mind - that's why I'm behind bars
Little guy will sell you out - little guy with his little feet and his small ears,
Never could walk and talk.
So what does this mean to me - writing the stars of the evening?
My constellations are me,
and this chance of a hand,
without the royal flush - I've got you beat.
My luck is getting to me,
need to find Lucky - where are his charms?
Popped on popping - with no more popping in and out of doors,
Closed doorways - with no doors, don't mind the curtain
